Stephen is the founding Partner of Kurzman, Dempsey & Kowalker, LLP. Prior to establishing the firm Steve worked in various capacities at CPA firms in and around Boston. Steve’s philosophy has always been to provide superior professional services to all of his clients. He has surrounded himself with professionals who demonstrate the same commitment to excellence as evident by the generations of families that continue to trust their tax needs to the firm.
Steve has been an adjunct faculty member at Bentley University since 1976 teaching Income Taxation of Trusts & Estates and many local CPA’s have taken his course. Steve is a very active member of the accounting profession serving as the past Chair and current member of the Federal Tax Committee of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, former Director of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants and Chair of the Internal Revenue Service Practitioner Liaison Committee for Region 1. He is also the founder of the Bentley Tax Education Forum. Steve is is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Steve has lectured to various professional and business groups nationwide on topics of taxation and the valuation of the closely held business, as well as consulting for many other accountants and attorneys in valuation and fiduciary tax matters. He is and has been a director and/or officer of a variety of public charities in the greater Boston area and has served as president of Congregation Mishkan Tefila in Chestnut Hill. You will often find him enjoying a great meal at Tartufo’s, his favorite Italian restaurant.
